Welcome to Inspired by Nature, a site dedicated to exploring, celebrating and connecting with the natural world. My name is Dave Brooks, and I’m the creator behind this project. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty and wonder of nature, and I believe that we all have the capacity to connect with the natural world wherever we live in meaningful ways. After a 40-year career managing a community nature center and leading environmental education programs, Inspired by Nature has become my post-retirement sideline. Through the site’s blog, I hope to share some of my personal musings and reflections on the natural world, and to inspire others to find their own connections and inspirations. I’m also willing to consult with and answer questions for those of you looking to nurture new connections. This could include help with a native plant landscaping project or other sustainable ways to care for your home and garden.

For me, nature is not just something “out there” that we can visit on occasion. It’s a part of who we are, and it surrounds us every day, even in the midst of our busy lives. Whether it’s the sound of birds singing outside my window, the feel of a cool breeze on my face, or the sight of a stunning sunset, I find that even small moments of connection with nature can have a profound impact on my mood, my creativity, and my overall sense of wellbeing.

Through my blog posts, I hope to explore some of the many ways that nature can inspire and enrich our lives. From the majesty of remote wilderness landscapes to the intricacies to be found in a suburban garden, there is always something to discover and appreciate.
